Vera Alexandrova, leader of the list of “Vazrazhdane” for the Vidin region, believes that the negative trends in the demographic processes for the region should be overcome with specific programs and measures to increase socio-economic development, ensure a safe and quality educational environment, as well as and modernization and investment in the sports base and facilities. She pointed out that the lack of sufficient funding and a clear vision for the development of professional sports in Bulgaria, the non-commitment to the problem on the part of the rulers for so many years is also the reason for the poor condition of the sports rowing base in Vidin.
According to Aleksandrova, a comprehensive state strategy is needed, which is aimed at increasing the capacity and improving the material base of our sports bases and facilities. Of course, all this should be part of a more general strategy to increase the sports and health culture among society and especially among teenagers – she added and specified that such a strategy should be aimed at the development of Bulgarian sports , by providing attractive programs and conditions for sports aimed at children and youth, allocating more funds and financial support for Bulgarian athletes, providing modern and new sports facilities and quality renovation of the material sports base, as part of the overall vision for development of Bulgarian sport.
She shared that she is currently an active athlete, which is why she feels committed to the problem of the lack of funding for the improvement of sports facilities in the district, and the negligence of the state in the last 30 years regarding sports facilities, training halls and sports bases in the country is also the reason for the poor condition of the rowing base in Vidin.
According to her, the rowing base in Vidin is a key factor for the development of sports and the economy in the region. With the modernization of the infrastructure and its strategic location along the Danube, the base could offer excellent conditions for training athletes and attracting competitions of national and international importance.
Vera Alexandrova is the leader of “Vazrazhdane” for the Vidin region. People’s representative in the 49th and 50th National Assembly, elected by the votes of the voters from the district. She established herself as a public figure who puts the problems and challenges facing the local community in the foreground, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of the economic development of the region.
