Ver.di Secures Historic Relief Collective Agreement with Commercial Hospital Operator

The nation’s first relief collective agreement with a commercial hospital operator is a done deal. Almost four out of five ver.di members at the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg (UKGM), which belongs to the Rhön Group, agreed to the negotiation result achieved in mid-April. »The relief for the employees of the university clinic can now come. Now we are going to finalize the collective agreement with this vote,” explained ver.di secretary Fabian Dzewas-Rehm. The ver.di collective bargaining committee will now start editorial negotiations with the employer to formulate the collective agreement on relief and job security.

The agreement includes, among other things, shift-specific personnel specifications for wards and functional areas. The personnel assessment for nursing, the PPR 2.0, developed by ver.di, the German Hospital Society and the German Nursing Council, becomes binding in every shift. The same applies to the specifications of the “Personnel resources for psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine” (PPP-RL) guidelines. In other areas, the collective agreement stipulates specific relations between employees and patients. For the first time, teachers and outpatient clinics are also included in the regulations of a collective bargaining agreement.
