ver.di is calling on employees nationwide to go on strike on Monday

The United Services Union (ver.di) is calling on cash and valuables transport employees to go on an all-day strike on Monday, September 30, 2024. All federal states are affected by the strike, with the exception of Baden-Württemberg.

The background is the collective bargaining negotiations for around 10,000 employees in the transport of money and valuables. In the second round of negotiations on September 20, 2024, the Federal Association of German Money and Cash Services (BDGW) did not submit an acceptable offer to ver.di’s demands for the federal collective agreement.

“There was no acceptable offer to our demands, on the contrary: the employers instead stuck to their demands to worsen working conditions. For example, new arrivals should get fewer vacation days,” criticizes ver.di negotiator Sonja Austermühle. “The employers’ attitude is completely unacceptable. That’s why we’re now calling for a strike to send a clear message and put pressure on employers to present a negotiable offer in the next round of negotiations.”

“It is completely unacceptable that newly hired employees should be put in a worse position in the future according to employers’ ideas – a two-class workforce must not be created,” adds Peggy Prescher, the ver.di union secretary responsible for the Hamburg companies.

In the federal collective agreement, ver.di demands that all working hours exceeding 8 hours per day be paid with the overtime premium. Furthermore, a nationwide holiday bonus and a nationwide Christmas bonus are required, each amounting to half the gross monthly salary. In addition, all employees should be entitled to 31 days of vacation based on a 5-day week, without putting employees who are currently entitled to more than 31 days of vacation at a disadvantage.

In Hamburg, employees of Prosegur Cash Services Germany GmbH are called upon to go on an all-day warning strike on September 30, 2024 from 00:00 a.m. to midnight. (Meeting point on Monday from 5:00 a.m.: Rote Brücke 27; 22113 Hamburg).

The next round of negotiations will take place on October 17th and 18th, 2024 in Munich.
