ver.di Baden-Württemberg on the collective wage result in the public service of the federal states – ver.di

ver.di Baden-Württemberg assesses the wage result achieved this morning in Potsdam for employees in the public service of the federal states as appropriate to the dramatic situation, even if too few professional groups benefit from the improvements for employees in the health care system.

Martin Gross, ver.di regional district manager: “In this existential crisis we achieved a decent result and together we lived up to our responsibility. The very high Corona premium is appropriate recognition for the great performance of the employees in the pandemic. Since this is paid gross for net, it is also a booster for the employees’ wallets, which bridges the zero months tolerably in view of the high inflation. It’s good that employers have finally arrived at the reality of the German Corona autumn and that we were able to implement structural improvements in the healthcare system. Teamwork takes place in the clinics and centers for psychiatry. On the positive side, employers have finally understood that there is more to this than caring. It is bitter for the colleagues in the centers that even their management on site obviously does not want to understand that everyone really belongs to it, including the manual trades or the cleaning service. “

Hanna Binder, Deputy State District Leader: “Today’s compromise was only possible because we were able to implement a very differentiated and thus also targeted agreement. Premium and percentage increase for all, plus a significant increase in healthcare allowances. We now expect the state government to transfer the wage result to the civil servants at the same time and with the same content. “

In the past few days, ver.di Baden-Württemberg had campaigned both directly in the negotiations in Potsdam and with interventions at the Baden-Württemberg employers to ensure that more professional groups in the centers for psychiatry benefit from the allowances.

Irene Gölz, Head of Health and Social Affairs: “We were able to ensure that other professional groups in the centers for psychiatry benefit from the new allowance regulations in addition to nursing. This was only possible because the colleagues were loud and together on the street in the past few weeks. With the result, at least three professions that do not benefit from the nursing allowance in the patient-related area – work educators, occupational therapy and speech therapy – are given a structural upgrade. It is all the more painful that not all groups of employees in the centers will benefit from the allowances. To achieve that, it would have needed more support from their management. This is now a first step in the right direction. We will not let up until more follow. “

Press release of the ver.di federal board:

Agreement in the collective bargaining conflict with the federal states: 2.8 percent plus 1,300 euros tax-free payment and more money in the health sector

In the conflict with the collective bargaining association of German states (TdL), the United Service Union (ver.di) achieved a result in the collective bargaining and salary round on Monday (November 29, 2021) in Potsdam after difficult negotiations.
According to this, the 1.1 million collective bargaining employees of the federal states (except Hesse) will receive a tax-free payment according to the Corona regulations in the amount of 1,300 euros at the beginning of next year. Apprentices, interns and students receive 650 euros tax-free at the same time. On December 1, 2022, the fees will be increased by 2.8 percent. The salaries of trainees, interns and students will be increased from December 2022 by 50 euros or by 70 euros in the health care system. The takeover regulation for trainees will come into force again. The collective agreement has a term of 24 months.
“That is a largely respectable result. It brings noticeable income improvements for a number of healthcare workers and is another intermediate step on our path to improving working conditions in the healthcare sector. We will continue this in future collective bargaining rounds, ”emphasized ver.di chairman Frank Werneke on Monday. In the collective bargaining round, the ver.di youth took part in the strikes with a lot of commitment and creativity and thus ensured increases in income that are impressive. “This is another way of making the public service attractive to young people,” said Werneke. A major success for ver.di is the defense against the massive attacks of the country employers on the classification rules.
The wide range of strike activities in the health sector led to noticeable increases in allowances from January 1, 2022. For example, the intensive care and infection allowance at the university hospitals will be increased from 90 to 150 euros, increasing by up to 67 percent. For example, the tariff result brings an average monthly income increase of 230 euros for an intensive care worker, an average of more than 180 euros for physiotherapists and more than 220 euros for employees in laboratory professions. In addition, there is a one-time tax-free payment of 1,300 euros.
It was also agreed that TdL and ver.di would start talks on working conditions for student employees at universities. The basis for this should be a joint inventory.
The qualification is valid for around 1.1 million employees (940,000 full-time positions) and 48,000 trainees in the public service of the federal states (except Hesse). The employers agreed to transfer the wage result to the 1.2 million civil servants and around 880,000 pension recipients in the state and 175,000 civil servants and 120,000 pension recipients in the municipalities (data also excluding Hesse).
ver.di also conducted the collective bargaining for the DGB unions GdP, GEW and IG BAU as well as in a negotiating community with the dbb beamtenbund and tarifunion.

Negotiations are being held for around 1.1 million employees (940,000 full-time positions) and 48,000 public sector trainees in the federal states (except Hesse). The wage result is also to be transferred simultaneously and with the same content to the 1.2 million civil servants and around 880,000 pension recipients in the state and 175,000 civil servants and 120,000 pension recipients in the municipalities (data also excluding Hesse).

According to information from the State Statistical Office, around 325,000 (full-time equivalents 275,000) employees in Baden-Württemberg will be directly or indirectly affected by the collective bargaining negotiations by 2020. Around 189,000 are civil servants and around 136,000 are salaried employees. Around 48,000 civil servants or employees are temporary.
Around 10,000 people work at the centers for psychiatry alone.
A good 27,000 employees at the university clinics are not covered by the collective bargaining agreement of the federal states.
