Tomorrow Venus and Jupiter will almost “collide” with each other in the sky. According to NASA, the planets will approach so close in the night sky that they will appear to merge into a single giant glowing mass visible to the naked eye. In the closest approach, the planets will be 0.2 degrees apart, which is slightly less than the angular distance of the full moon. In reality, however, they will be 690 million km apart – more than four times the distance between the Earth and the Sun. This unique phenomenon will be best seen one hour before dawn when looking east. This apparent “fusion” of Venus and Jupiter is the second conjunction we saw this month, after Mars and Saturn lined up in early April.
