The mayor of the city decided to award the man a “certificate of stupidity.”
In an unspeakable incident, Luigi Brugnaro, the mayor of the Italian city of Venice, was surprised by a man he described as an “idiot” who jumped from a high building into a water channel, stressing that the authorities were looking for him.
In a post on Twitter, the mayor added that he would give the man a certificate of stupidity and many kicks for this act, which went viral on social media.
He also pointed out that the building from which the man jumped consists of 3 floors, explaining that the man and his partner who filmed the video will be arrested.
The clip, which spread like wildfire during the past hours on social media, showed a man wearing only short underwear, jumping from a high place into the water channel on his stomach.
In addition, the mayor confirmed that the authorities are investigating how the man reached the top of the private building, and determining his location to punish him, asking people to provide any information about him.
He concluded, “He risked his life in that jump. They don’t understand the danger they are creating in this city.. What if a boat passed below?” He added, “This jump is just the latest report of people behaving badly in Italy.”
It is noteworthy that Italy had arrested more than 40 tourists last year for swimming naked sometimes in the canals of Venice, and one man was arrested for surfing in the Grand Canal.
