Venezuelan Supreme Court begins appraisal of requested electoral material – 2024-08-06 19:42:27

The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela has begun the process of appraising the electoral material requested to resolve the dispute brought by citizen and president Nicolás Maduro, it was revealed today in this capital.

The president of the Venezuelan Supreme Court, Caryslia Beatriz Rodríguez, announced this last night after the head of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, submitted the documents and annexes requested by the Electoral Chamber of the highest judicial body in the country.

Rodríguez pointed out that it was noted that “all the documents requested by the CNE had been received, complying with the court order.”

The Supreme Court requested the minutes of the vote counts from the electoral tables nationwide; the final tally of the electoral process and the adjudication and proclamation of the aforementioned process.

Also the evidence related to the reported cyber attack against the computer system of the Electoral Power that prevented the timely transmission of the election results, “as it is a public, notorious and communicative fact.”

He also asked the highest electoral body for “all the evidence associated with such an event.”

The head of the TSJ explained that the process will have a period of 15 days, extendable, for which she will use “all mechanisms available in the legal system for this purpose.”

In this regard, he proceeded to record “all electoral instruments that are in the possession of the political parties and the candidates,” which he cited in “intuitu personae,” that is, they cannot be replaced or delegated to any other person.

In this regard, he announced the creation of a schedule in which they must attend with the required information and answer the questions asked by the jurisdictional body.

The Electoral Chamber ordered the summons of the aforementioned citizens and warned that “failure to appear… will entail the consequences provided for in our current legal system.”

The process will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, with the summons of the political parties and movements that formed the Democratic Unitary Platform and its candidate Edmundo González, and successively the rest.

Representatives of the United Socialist Party and the Great Patriotic Pole, as well as President Nicolás Maduro, are expected to attend the Supreme Court on Friday.

Last Friday, during a public and oral hearing, the judicial body requested from all candidates, political parties, CNE and other parties involved in the process of July 28 “all relevant legal documents that are required.”
