Venezuelan María Antonieta Hidalgo aims high with her projects in Mexico

Venezuelan actress María Antonieta Hidalgo is seen in primetime in Eneamiga, telenovela produced by RCTV and transmitted by Televen. But this drama does not fully occupy the attention of the young artist, as she is also focused on the projects offered to her in Mexico.

In the country of the rancheras, this social communicator has achieved notable success in the commercial area. The most important brands have requested her as an image, while she joined the cast of a horror movie with successful artists like Joseph Marcell, better known as the butler “Geoffrey” from the famous comedy The Prince of rap.

-How was the experience of having participated in an RCTV production?
-It was a very enriching and unforgettable experience throughout my career, and that our production is currently on Televen’s screens in primetime makes me very happy and I know that my character, Gaby Humor, will like it a lot.

“RCTV It is a space full of professionalism, creativity and the desire to produce good content -he continues-. It takes a lot of discipline and commitment to get there and stick with it for as long as it takes to record. I was several months recording Eneamiga and I had an incredible time. The energy of the channel is awesome and magical, my co-workers were extraordinary both on and off the set, the story of the novel is very fresh and original and I had a lot of fun filming and of course the crew was full of professional and committed people ”.

-Do you have a project that keeps you busy in Mexico?
-Mexico has received me very well. Although at this time there are no large productions or plays due to the critical situation in the country due to the pandemic, this last year I have dedicated myself to advertising large brands in Mexico and the United States, such as McDonald’s, Amazon , Snapchat, Nescafé, among others. I am always active receiving and conducting publicity castings and meeting the people who are part of the Mexican artistic union.

-What are the projects carried out when you arrive in Mexico?
-I arrived in Mexico in 2019 for a Mexican-American co-production film project called The exorcism of God. It has been one of the most complex challenges of my career because of the genre and the language of the film: it is a horror story told in English … chen I arrived in the country I had to take classes immediately to perfect my English and to be able to do my scenes fluently in that language. It was wonderful to work in another language and with a team made up of Hollywood actors, some Mexicans and others Venezuelans.

-Can you mention any of the actors who accompanied you in that movie?
-I would like to mention my plot partner, the famous actor Joseph Marcell, who played the butler Geoffrey in the well-known series The Prince of rap, starring Will Smith. Sharing the set for seven weeks with this extraordinary actor is an experience I will never forget, I learned a lot from him and we became good friends.

-Have you worked in the horror genre?
No, and the truth is that it has been quite an experience. Entering the horror genre was not easy either, we filmed at night on a mountain in Mexico City called El Desierto de los Leones, where there was a church and a forest that served perfectly to set the plot. It was an exhausting process, but very rewarding. The makeup also took a long time, as the characters were characterized and it took us approximately three hours to do makeup and an hour to remove makeup. The physical work was also very demanding, because the scenes were of exorcism and the corporal expression and the voice were the protagonists. I would dare to say that I have never done such complex work and I am very happy with the result. The premiere of the film is scheduled for April this year in the United States.
