The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, expressed this Saturday his solidarity with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the people due to the wave of forest fires that have affected the south of the country, leaving several people injured.

“From Venezuela we express our total solidarity with the people and Government of Turkey in the face of the voracious fires that have struck the south of that country, claiming lives and leaving many injured,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister.
Arreaza said that from Caracas they are aware of the situation and reiterated his greeting to the Turkish head of state, “we hope that this unfortunate situation will be quickly overcome,” he added.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister’s pronouncement comes after the Turkish president declared this Saturday a state of catastrophe due to the magnitude of the fires in the south of the nation that have left at least six dead and 410 injured.
“We have declared our regions affected by forest fires as disaster areas,” said President Erdogan.
The Turkish head of state emphasized that investigations are continuing in the face of alleged intentions to set fire to the areas, “traitors capable of burning their own homeland (…) if discovered they will suffer the most severe punishment,” he said.
