The Government of Venezuela This Wednesday he summoned his ambassador in Brazil, Manuel Vedellafter rejecting the “interference and rude” statements of spokespersons authorized by the Brazilian Government, in particular Celso Amorimhead of special advice for international affairs of the Executive of the South American giant.
“The national and international community is informed that, following instructions from President Nicolás Maduro Moros, it has been decided to immediately summon Ambassador Manuel Vadell, who represents us in Brasilia, for consultations.”the Foreign Ministry indicated in a statement.
This Tuesday, Amorim said that “the principle of transparency was not respected” in the presidential elections of July 28, so Maduro’s proclaimed victory cannot be recognized.
Likewise, he explained that, in its attempts at mediation, Brazil has been guided by the principles of “defense of democracy, non-interference in internal affairs and peaceful resolution of controversies.”
In the statement, the Government of Venezuela expressed, once again, his “total repudiation” of the “anti-Latin American attitude” consummated in the “veto applied by Brazil at the summit of the BRICS in Kazan (Russia)with which Venezuela from the guest list to associate members of said organization.
“Likewise, we denounce the irrational behavior of Brazilian diplomats, who, contravening the approval of the rest of the BRICS members, assumed a policy of blockade, similar to the policy of unilateral coercive measures and collective punishment of the entire Venezuelan people.”he added.
The Foreign Ministry expressed that Venezuela reserves, within the framework of its foreign policy, the necessary actions “in response to said attitude, which compromises the collaboration and joint work that until now had been developed in all multilateral spaces.”
According to the statement, the Foreign Minister of the Caribbean country, Yvan Gilmet with the “charge d’affaires of Brazil”, whom he did not identify, to express his “firmest rejection” of these actions.
Since last February, Brazil and Venezuela have increased their diplomatic relations, for which Brasilia appointed as ambassador Glivânia Maria de Oliveirareplacing the until then chargé d’affaires, Flavio Macieiraappointed Brazilian ambassador to Ireland.
Bilateral relations between both countries have gradually deteriorated after the presidential elections, especially given Brazil’s insistence on publishing the detailed minutes of the process, as is also demanded by a large part of the international community, considering that there is no evidence of the victory of none of the candidates.
The tension with Venezuela, which has been dragging on for weeks, worsened last week, when the Government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva refused to accept him as a new associate member of the BRICS bloc, founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China y South Africa. EFE (I)
