Through several messages on his Twitter account, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister reported on these meetings held within the framework of the VII Summit of Presidents of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), held in Argentina, to which he attended on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, who did not travel due to an “aggression plan” against him.

During the day, Gil reported that he had “a pleasant meeting” with his Mexican counterpart, Marcelo Ebrard, in which both representatives reaffirmed the will of their governments “to continue working for the revitalization of the bilateral agenda.”

Likewise, the official met with the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis, to whom he reiterated Venezuela’s desire to “continue strengthening the relationship between the two countries, in favor of regional integration and well-being.”

Gil’s agenda also included an appointment with the Honduran Foreign Minister, Eduardo Enrique Reina, with whom he agreed to “continue strengthening strategic cooperation” between the two countries.

Likewise, he reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation with the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, whom he congratulated, on behalf of the Government of Venezuela, for being the nation chosen to exercise the pro tempore presidency of Celac in 2023.

In a round of meetings, the Venezuelan representative also spoke with the Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), Rodolfo Sabonge, to whom he ratified the Maduro government’s commitment to strengthen regional cooperation and the integration process with the Caribbean .

Earlier, Gil thanked the delegations present at the VII Celac Summit for their solidarity and statements against the international sanctions imposed on the Caribbean country and described Venezuela’s participation in this meeting as “successful”.
