MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela announced this Tuesday that the next presidential elections will be held on July 28, thus setting a definitive date for elections marked by the disqualification of the opponent María Corina Machado.

This has been confirmed by the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, who has also detailed that the period for electoral registration will begin on March 18, while the presentation of candidacies will take place between the 21st and 25th of this same month.

Likewise, the electoral campaign will be held between July 4 and 25, according to ‘Últimas Noticias’. The Government and different political organizations signed an agreement at the end of February to establish an electoral schedule that has now been made official.

The presidential elections in Venezuela are marked by the disqualification for a period of 15 years that the Supreme Court of Justice imposed on the unitary opposition candidate, along with other prominent opponents, such as Henrique Capriles.

The Venezuelan Justice sentenced Machado for “having been a participant in the corruption plot orchestrated by the usurper Juan Guaidó” and that led to the “criminal blockade” of Venezuela, as well as “the blatant dispossession of the people’s companies and wealth.”
