“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela repudiates the attack perpetrated against Former President <a href="http://www.world-today-news.com/bolivias-interim-president-withdraws-from-elections-now/" title="Bolivia's interim president withdraws from elections | NOW”>Evo Morales, recorded in the Tropics of Cochabamba when he was on his way to carry out activities on his work agenda,” the statement states forcefully.
The letter describes as abhorrent the act of fascist violence that seeks to inoculate violence and political hatred in Bolivian society.
Caracas highlights the good decision of the Government to initiate investigations to clarify the facts: “We celebrate the beginning of investigations by the government of President Luis Arce Catacora to clarify and penalize this attack on the physical integrity of the former president.”
The statement clearly expresses its solidarity with Evo Morales: “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, consistent with its Peace Diplomacy, stands in solidarity with the leadership of the Movement towards Socialism, while reiterating its brotherhood and friendship with the brother Bolivian people.”
This Sunday, the former president reported having survived an armed attack and alleged arrest attempt in the early hours of today, while he was traveling along the highway that connects Villa Tunari with Shinahota, in the Tropics of Cochabamba, a region considered his main political stronghold.
