Venezuela Registers Only Three New COVID-19 Cases From Community Transmission

The Presidential Commission for the Prevention, Care and Control of COVID-19 In Venezuela, this Saturday, April 8, it registered only three new infections of the virus throughout the national territory due to community transmission. No deaths were reported.

The Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez reported on his Twitter account that two of the COVID-19 cases were detected in Bolívar state, specifically in the Caroní municipality and one case in Caracas. The people affected by the virus are two women and one man, including two minors.

Official national statistics indicate that the total number of COVID-19 infections since the arrival of the pandemic in Venezuela reached 552,476 cases, of which 546,328 people managed to recover and there are 292 active cases. The death toll remains at 5,856.

Of the active cases, the majority, 248, receive supervised community care (at home); 20 in hospitals of the public health system; 14 in Comprehensive Community Care Centers (CDI) and 10 in private clinics.

“Protecting all of us continues to be the call of President Nicolás Maduro. Special care and reinforcement of the anticovid19 vaccine have been the main tools to maintain control of the virus in Venezuela,” said the senior official.

Recently, vaccine experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) assured that already booster vaccination is not necessary for the general population and that it will only be necessary for the high-risk population, that is, adults under 60 years of age, girls, boys, and adolescents who are at medium risk (health problems).
