Venezuela receives four Bengal tigers to support their reproduction and preservation

The Ministry for Ecosocialism reported on the afternoon of this Monday, April 25, that four Bengal tigers from Seville, Spain, arrived in the country to contribute to conservation projects for the species.

“Zoos in Venezuela are there to help reproduce them (tigers),” said veterinarian Adrián Carrero, who explained that to date only 2,800 white Bengal tigers remain in their natural habitat.

The specimens that arrived in Venezuela this Monday will live in the El Pinar Zoological Park and in the Caricuao Zoological Park, in Caracas.

The authorities in charge received a couple and two males, to be added to four other specimens, with which a breeding program for this species will be carried out.

When they are admitted to the zoos, they will undergo a routine check, such as laboratory tests, for their subsequent exhibition.

The acquisition of these four Bengal tigers comes almost a year after the Venezuelan government bought three white lions from the Czech Republic in June 2022.
