Caracas, Sep 4 (EFE) .- In the last 24 hours, 14 more people died from covid-19 in Venezuela, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 4,086, the vice president reported this Saturday Executive, Delcy Rodríguez.

“We regret to report that today 14 Venezuelans died from covid-19,” Rodríguez wrote on his Twitter account, in which he explained that five of the deceased were from the central state of Miranda (which houses part of the metropolitan area of Caracas) and four more from the capital.

The list is completed by two people from Anzoátegui, one from La Guaira, one from Lara and one from Zulia.

On the other hand, Rodríguez reported that, in the last 24 hours, the authorities detected 955 new cases, 948 cases of community transmission and seven “imported.”

The region with the most new cases is Caracas (260), followed by Miranda (147), Nueva Esparta (134), La Guaira (94), Anzoátegui (62), Yaracuy (49), Trujillo (47), Monagas (46) , Falcón (37), Barinas (25), Zulia (14), Carabobo (11), Aragua (3), Portuguesa (2) and Sucre (1).

In this way, Venezuela has reached 339,255 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, although 323,360 have already recovered, which is 95%, with which 11,809 are still active.

The NGO Doctors of Venezuela (MUV) has made repeated calls to accelerate the vaccination process against covid-19 and has asked the Government to report on the arrival of the new doses.

Venezuela is still waiting for more than six million anticovid vaccines from the Covax mechanism, coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO), an announcement made by Nicolás Maduro on August 2, when he assured that the arrival in Venezuela would be ” in the next few days “, having already passed a month since that promise was announced, which remains unfulfilled.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) reported Thursday that within the Covax mechanism for equitable distribution of vaccines, purchase orders have been generated through the PAHO revolving fund for 693,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, which should be arriving at the end of September to the country.
