TeleSUR

The Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, met this Monday with the secretary general of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+), Haitham al-Ghais, with a view to reviewing the current situation in the international energy market.

The operation of the OPEC+ statutes and future opportunities in the hydrocarbon market were part of the topics addressed in the dialogue, which took place at the headquarters of Petróleos de Venezuela, SA (Pdvsa) La Campiña, in Caracas (capital ).

Likewise, the meeting was conducive to strengthening the ties of collaboration between the oil entity and Venezuela, which will also bring benefits to oil-producing nations and reaffirm the principles that originated OPEC+.

On October 2, the Minister of Petroleum also participated in the 56th Meeting of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+), through a videoconference.

On that day, topics associated with the definition of the work agenda for the coming years, the future of the global economy, and the purposes of production, supply and demand in the world energy market were discussed.

The South American country plays a very important role in the entity, as it is the nation with the largest oil reserves on a global scale.

Since 1960, the year Venezuela founded OPEC, its leadership has been indisputable, not only because of the largest oil reserve on the planet but also the large gas blocks it possesses.
