Venezuela agrees with Peru and is already fully thinking about the final hexagonal of the South American Sub17 – Diario 2001

The Vinotinto Sub17, which with a combination of results has already qualified for the final hexagonal of the CONMEBOL Sub-17, closed the group stage with a tie (0-0) against its counterpart from Peru, in a commitment where those led by Ricardo Valiño only lacked the goal to close a great performance.

The initial whistle blew with both teams on top of the attack in a match broadcast live and direct on the screens of Meridiano Televisión, and where the defenses were the protagonists.

Alejandro Cichero sought to take advantage of his height and physical power to generate danger, but without much luck. Emmanuel Meléndez was also effective on offense with clear chances, although without scoring.

The clearest warning came after 36 minutes, when Cichero took a rebound inside the area and with a left-footed shot he sought to open the scoring, but the Peruvian goalkeeper was confident in his actions and sent the ball wide this time.

The minutes were running and both elevens sought to impose their game. La Vinotinto despite being classified to the hexagonal, wanted to close the group stage with a victory, and therefore the multiple offensive transitions, although the Peruvian defense responded to every criollo warning.

In the complement the dynamic was the same. Cichero again at 58′ with a shot from the edge of the area that Juan Durán managed to retain. Four minutes later, Meléndez would warn with a shot that missed the rival’s goal by very little.

Venezuela was clearly superior and kept looking for the opening of the scoreboard. At minute 75 Miguel Vegas finished off inside the area, but the ball crashed off the crossbar. At 86 ‘, a recently entered Juan Arango had another clear opportunity, but his left foot was deflected by the Peruvian goalkeeper.

Thus, Peru said goodbye to the CONMEBOL U17 competition this Saturday with a goalless draw against Venezuela, in Group B of the tournament.

During the first half of this Saturday’s game, it was Venezuela that generated the best chances to convert, but goalkeeper Juan Pedro Durán was one of the outstanding figures of the Peruvian team, and saved his team.

The tie left Vinotinto with 5 points and in the next instance of the final hexagonal, while Bicolor leaves the contest with only one point.

Venezuela extended its unbeaten record against Peru in CONMEBOL U17, counting from 2009 (2V 3E). The two ties between the Peruvians and the Venezuelans ended goalless.

Peru went three games without scoring at least one goal in CONMEBOL Sub17 (1E 2D). La Blanquirroja registers only one goal in this edition of the tournament (1D vs. Bolivia).
