Caracas, Oct 9 (EFE) .- Venezuela has added 1,410 new covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, reaching 382,266 since the start of the pandemic, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez reported this Saturday.

“The Presidential Commission for the Prevention, Attention and Control of covid-19 reports that in the last hours a total 1,410 new infections were registered in Venezuela; all of community transmission,” Rodríguez said on his Twitter account.

The vice president explained that the entity that registered the highest number of infected was Miranda with 490, followed by Caracas with 320, Nueva Esparta with 135, Zulia with 81, Anzoátegui with 73, La Guaira with 62, Yaracuy with 55, Apure with 52, Aragua with 49 and Barinas with 46.

The states of the country with the fewest cases were Guárico with 16, Bolívar with 11, Lara with 10, Carabobo with 5 and Sucre, Táchira, Mérida, Cojedes, and Delta Amacuro with 1.

On the other hand, Rodríguez reported that in the last 24 hours 14 more people died from covid-19, with which the total number of deaths reaches 4,606 since the beginning of the pandemic, adding seven in Caracas, five in Miranda and one in La Guaira.

Likewise, the vice president indicated that of the 382,266 cases registered in the country, 362,006 have been recovered, with which there are only 15,654 active cases.

Venezuela is in the process of vaccination, which accelerated in the last month with the arrival of several batches of Sputnik, Sinovac -through the Covax mechanism-, and of the Chinese Sinopharm, with which President Nicolás Maduro hopes to reach the 70% of people vaccinated this month.

As Maduro said on Friday, the country has “achieved the goal of 50%” of the “general” population vaccinated against covid-19, without specifying whether it refers to people who have received a single dose or the two necessary to be consider an individual to be immunized.

However, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), in Venezuela 6,190,629 citizens have been vaccinated with full doses, that is, 20.6%, while 9,926,613 have received only the first injection, which represents 30% of Venezuelans. EFE
