Revolution in Venetian healthcare with the new ordinance, signed by the president Luca Zaia, which made it it is compulsory for all 3,150 general practitioners in Veneto to carry out rapid tests on their clients, as required by the national agreement with the Ministry of Health.
The governor of Veneto specified that those who exempt themselves will be sanctioned and the Region will give all doctors swabs and protective devices to be able to intervene on their patients who have symptoms or the need to take a tampon.
The general practitioner becomes a de facto public health officer, so he can decide the extent of the quarantine (which will also apply to the INPS) in addition to tracking the people who have been in contact with his client.
If the people who have had contact with the infected patient are already under the care of other doctors, the general practitioner will have to inform their colleagues.
As for the tests, on the other hand, these are rapid swabs that can be done at the home of the patients or in the clinic (if this is impractical, the doctor can use spaces granted by the Municipality or the health district).
The Veneto Region will provide swabs for which we are talking about 180-200 thousand swabs per week but it should be noted that the measure will not cover cases of screening in schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
“It is not a muscular act – said Zaia who in the last press conference announced the new ordinance – We had to mediate to reach an agreement and here there is no conscientious objector. The doctors, whose sacrifice we recognize, are remunerated. It is a revolution: if we all work together, we make life easier for citizens ”.
The agreement will be at the center of the meeting with the 500 pediatricians of the Veneto Region who will be explained the details of the plan of the health authorities to effectively fight Covid.
