Vendors Please Be Patient Yes, PLN Call It Time To Pay Bills

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia PT PLN (Persero) said that the decline in electricity sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic made cash flow in the company problematic. No doubt this also has an impact on delays in payments to vendors.

President Director of PLN, Zulkifli Zaini, said that the Covid-19 pandemic made electricity sales decrease significantly. The demand for public electricity in 2020 has decreased by 10% compared to 2019.

PLN’s revenue, which initially averaged IDR 25 trillion per month prior to the pandemic, but at the time of the pandemic’s peak, fell to only IDR 22-23 trillion per month.

“It simply came to our notice then cash flow (cash flow) pay the vendor or keep the electricity from going out, and we choose the electricity not to go out, so the payment (debt) to the vendor is postponed. But with the improvement in electricity demand in the last 1-2 months, revenue Our (income) is improving, “he said in the Hearing Meeting (RDP) at Commission VI of the Indonesian Parliament, Wednesday (09/09/2020).

Even though the payment is delayed, Zulkifli said the company remains committed to resolving bills from vendors. However, he continued, his party asked for time. Unfortunately, Zulkifli did not mention how much unpaid bills from vendors were.

“We will commit to finalizing vendor bills, but it will take time,” he pleaded.

In the RDP, the PLN boss also mentioned the government’s debt to PLN of Rp. 45 trillion for compensation in 2018 and 2019. PLN is grateful that the government has started repaying the payments. With this government debt payment, according to him, it will have a good impact on PLN’s cash flow.

“We thank (the government) for the collection of compensation and have started to be paid, thus cash flow we are improving, “he said.

As it is known, the government compensation debt reached IDR 45.42 trillion, consisting of unpaid tariff compensation to PLN in 2018 of IDR 23.17 trillion and 2019 IDR 22.25 trillion.
