It is in a room with a hushed atmosphere, loaded with screens and telephones, that the calls to 15 and 116-117 emitted from Vendée arrive every day, 24 hours a day. At the hospital center of The Rock-on-Yonthe regulatory center experiences heavier activity every summer. “During the year, we manage to answer almost all the calls with between a thousand and 1,300 calls per day.explains Doctor Arnaud Guillaumet, who chairs theFat 85the departmental association for the organization of care for general practitioners, but in the summer it goes up to 2,200 or even 2,300 calls, it’s more complicated to find the number of general practitioners opposite. We would need on average three doctors all day long.”

“We need twenty or thirty more doctors.”
“We call on all general practitioners, we recruit, we train, we set up training courses during the yearthe doctor specifies, There, we are working on a remote regulation project where doctors will be able to regulate from their office, so they don’t have to travel. We are going to hold open days to bring in general practitioners who are not familiar with this activity. Currently, we have between fifty and sixty doctors. If we had twenty or thirty more, we could effectively meet all the needs of Vendée patients and tourists, even in summer.”
The Association is also trying to convince retired doctors, such as Dr. Jean-Paul Vigier, 74 years old: “There are fewer people setting up in general medicine, especially in medical deserts, the mode of activity has changed (with more part-time). And then I think people are consuming more, they are more demanding and less patient with their requests. They want a quick medical response.”
