10 days 20 hours and 23 minutes later Alex Thomson, first skipper of Vendée Globe to have passed latitude 0, Jeremiah Beyou crossed the equator this Sunday, November 29. He is the last skipper to join the South Atlantic, after his setbacks at the start of the race.
The skipper of Charal had been forced to return to Sables-d’Olonne after being on the verge of giving up due to several damage. He had returned to sea 10 days after departure.
“We are finally in the South Atlantic, rejoiced Jérémie Beyou, who is not a beginner. It must be my 14e or 15e passage. Between all my Vendée Globe, Volvo Ocean Race, Transat, etc … it’s starting to do some. I hope this one will mark a change between what I experienced at the start of the race and the end. Thank you all ”, launched the skipper from the boat.
