Veloretti Electric Two: Dutch Craftsmanship with an Italian Flair

Dutch craftsmanship with an Italian flair (and name): let yourself be carried away on a Veloretti. The bicycle brand from Amsterdam has just launched two new e-bikes, good for a Red Dot Design Award 2023.

An easily removable 540 Wh battery that allows you to pedal up to 120 kilometers. A silent Bafang mid-engine. Automatic Enviolo gears. A maintenance-free Gates carbon belt drive. It may not mean much to you, but the electric bicycles of the Dutch Veloretti are excellent in their kind. Two years after the launch of the first series, the Ace Two (with high frame) and the Ivy Two (with step-through frame) are now also ready for a fast start. “The customer is central to our design philosophy,” says founder Ferry Zonder. “In the two years we spent developing the Electric Two, we made sure that every new feature has added value for the end user. The mix between high-end technology and contemporary design goes far beyond what I could have ever imagined when I designed my first bike.”

100% online

The first Veloretti came out in 2012. Ferry Zonder couldn’t find an affordable, decent and stylish bicycle for his daily commute in Amsterdam, so he created one himself. Right from the start, he opted for exclusively online sales, a good way to quickly reach many people. It also meant that Zonder could knock out the retail margin. “We then invested that margin in the production of a real quality bicycle that will last for years.”

Retro bike with modern gadgets

New to the Ace Two and Ivy Two is the even sleeker design, with hidden cables and integrated display, and the safety tracking for extra safety on the road. Press the button on the right side of the steering wheel for four seconds, and a message will automatically be sent to your chosen contact with a tracking link sharing your live location. What we love about the new model? The retro color option Pebble Gray with brown leather saddle and handles. The Vespa of e-bikes, so to speak. “Many people do indeed think that we are an Italian bicycle brand,” Zonder laughs. “I used to collect old Italian Velocifero mopeds and was kind of inspired by that name. It was a good match, especially since ‘vélo’ also means ‘bicycle’ in French. But no, Veloretti is Dutch through and through!” The best proof? Dutchies Yara Michels in Nicole Huisman op hun Ivy Two.
