Mexico City. The automotive industry in Mexico maintained good progress in the first four months of the year, with a positive balance in shipments abroad, in its total production and in sales in the domestic market, reported data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi). ).
According to the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (Raiavl), exports of light cars registered an annual increase of 14.38 percent in April, selling 289,756 light vehicles abroad. While in the accumulated of the first four months of 2024, one million 115 thousand 455 units were exported, which represented a growth of 12.15 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
For their part, automotive companies in the country assembled a total of 358,575 vehicles in April, which represented an advance of 21.74 percent compared to April 2023 (294,550 units).
During the January-April 2024 period, one million 286,356 light vehicles were produced, which represented a growth of 5.72 percent.
Light trucks represented 75.3 percent of the total produced, while the rest corresponded to automobile manufacturing.
In April, 112,048 light vehicles were sold in the national market in April, which represents a variation of 14.8 percent compared to the same month in 2023. In the accumulated figure for the year, a total of 461,800 units were reported, a variation of 11.89 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
