The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and the state and municipal Transportation departments announce that they received federal approval to begin the environmental assessment and public outreach processes for the call Vehicle Congestion Plan in Manhattan.
This traffic congestion proposal requires a fee for vehicles traveling south of 60th Street in Manhattan.
The MTA indicates that it expects the entire process, which will include more than 20 public meetings, to begin in the next few weeks and take about 16 months.
An environmental assessment document will be created to analyze traffic congestion, traffic, air quality, and other environmental indicators in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
