Vegårshei municipality has set crisis staff, writes Tvedestrandsposten.
The emergency services reported the fire, which is in Molandsveien by Stampholmen, just after half past one on Friday night.
– The building has burned down. Drone images do not provide an answer to the danger of explosion, and cooling with water cannons is therefore established. This will continue until 18.00, reports the operations center in Agder police district.
Until then, both the road and the railway past the site will be closed.
26 people have been evacuated and are being cared for by the municipality at an evacuation center. The closed road can have consequences for home nursing in the municipality.
The building is an old mill used as a warehouse. The fire brigade stated on Friday night that they could not start extinguishing due to a safety zone.
– Now we are really just waiting for it to slam, if there is a bang, then, said operations manager Jens Magne Hansen in Agder police district to The Friend of the Fatherland at 3 p.m.
