On Thursday, August 20, at 12 t / c “Akropole”, a lottery of the Latvian Basketball Cup will take place. The tournament, which resumes after a 26-year break, will feature 23 teams from four Latvian leagues.
Taking into account the sporting and geographical aspects, the teams will be divided into several baskets before the draw and will be involved in the fight for the cup at different stages.
Eight teams will participate in the first round: “Liepāja” / LSSS and “Rīga” playing in the Ramirent National League, Iecava “Dartija”, “Cēsis” / Cēsis Sports School, “Tukums” / TSS, Rugāji Sports Center and Krāslava ”/ Sports school, as well as Maxibasketball 40+ group champions“ Garkalne runči ”.
In the second round, eight National League teams will take part in the fight: “Jelgava”, “Gulbene buki”, “Limbaži”, “Saldus”, “Kandava / Anzāģe”, “Ķekava”, RTU and “VEF Basketball Academy in Valka”.
Six teams will be involved in the third round: five Latvian representatives of Pafbet in the Latvian-Estonian league – “Ogre”, “Ventspils”, “Valmiera Glass VIA”, “University of Latvia” and “Liepāja”, as well as the team with the best balance in the National League 2020. in the season – “Jēkabpils”.
Latvian championship unit European Champions League member “VEF Rīga” will participate in the fight for the Latvian Cup from the semi-finals.
In all rounds up to and including the semi-finals, the winners will be determined in the sum of two games.
The final game is scheduled for February 13.
