The match of subgroup F will start at 22:00 Latvian time, will be broadcast live on the channel “TV3 Sport”.
Half an hour earlier, the second match of the group will begin, in which CSB Limoges will play at home against Sporting Lisbon.
Last week “VEF Riga” lost at home with 76:89 Lisbon basketball players, but Manreza’s team won 76:73 over the Limoges team away from home.
“Baxi” has won one match out of three in the Spanish league. Starting his second season with this club, 21-year-old forward Steinberg has earned a solid spot in the rotation and averaged 8.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 17 minutes in these games.
American central player Justin Hamilton, who spent half of the season in 2013 in the ranks of “VEF Riga”, also plays in the opposing team.
“VEF Rīga” played two games against Kurzeme teams in the local league. First, there was an unexpected 93:98 defeat against “Liepāja” and then a 100: 81 victory over “Ventspili”.
Manreza’s team, 1998 Spanish champions, took seventh place in the ACB regular championship last season, but stopped in the first round or quarter-finals of the knockout tournament. In the Champions League, the team represented by Steinberg fought until the final, where they recognized the superiority of the Tenerife basketball players.
The format of the competition remains unchanged: 32 teams compete in eight groups of four units. The group winners have immediate access to the round of 16, while the runners-up and third-place finishers will compete in the “play-in” series in January 2023.
In the quarter-finals, the teams will play duels up to two wins in April, and the season will conclude with the “Final Four” tournament in May.
