There were talks and interest in the context of Zorik, but no club offered the agreed conditions for buying out the contract, Jahović explained. According to the terms of the contract, an interested club could buy out Zorik’s contract until July 15.

Currently, “VEF Rīga” does not consider the possibility of Zorik leaving, however, such a possibility is not completely ruled out if there is another offer. However, Jahovic admitted that Zoric’s move is becoming less likely as the start of the season approaches and the club needs time to find a replacement for a player who has left for another team anyway.
Jahovičs emphasized that the strategy of “VEF Rīga” is unchanged, the national champion team signing Latvian players first, and depending on the basketball players recruited, foreign players are selected for the remaining vacancies. Jahovičs estimates that “VEF Riga” could have three to five foreign players in the new season, and negotiations on their attraction are in the process.
“VEF Rīga” informed on Monday about the addition of the US center player Nasir Brooks, who graduated from college in the spring and played in Canada in the summer.
In preparation for the new season, “VEF Riga” could hold its first training sessions around August 10, Jahovičs admitted.
