Vecinos por Arroyo Calls for Expanded Bus Reinforcement Following Elimination of School Transportation Line

The political group Vecinos por Arroyo will request at the next municipal plenary session, which will be held this Wednesday, September 27, that the reinforcement of buses be sufficiently expanded in view of the elimination of the special transportation line to the local institutes.

More than 550 students are “potential users” of this secondary education school transportation line, and now “they are forced” to use one of the two regular passenger transportation lines available in the municipality of Arroyo de la Encomienda, they have transferred from the aforementioned platform.

The spokesperson for Neighbors for Arroyo in the Arroyo de la Encomienda City Council, Antonio Olmo, has pointed out the deficiencies of the intra-urban transport service that have become evident with the elimination of the special secondary transport line.

And the formalization of the collaboration agreement between the Arroyo de la Encomienda City Council and the company La Regional Vallisoleta, SA for the year 2023 has resulted in the elimination of the school transportation service for the next school year 2023-2024.

This special secondary education transportation line was intended exclusively for Secondary Education students who attend IESO Arroyo and CEO Atenea.

“The frequencies and routes of the two interurban transport lines of Arroyo de la Encomienda do not adjust to the needs of the users, in this case, the students of the educational centers. This situation generates problems that translate into late arrivals to the center or long waiting times at the end of the school day,” Olmo said.

Although the City Council has implemented reinforcement in the form of an additional bus for each regular line, “it seems that the problems persist and insecurity has taken over families, who are worried about the lack of reliability of the service.”

From the platform they have assured that this situation is “generating conciliation problems in many families, who are forced to reorganize their work schedules and commitments to take and pick up their children in private vehicles.”
