“VDL Nedcar Car Factory Strike Extends Due to Lack of Response from Plant Management”

The VDL Nedcar car factory in Born will also be shut down on Wednesday and Thursday. The staff will strike for another two days, because the unions have not yet received a response from the company management.

There was also a strike at VDL Nedcar on Monday and Tuesday. And last week there was already a wild, so unplanned, strike among the factory workers.

Trade union CNV Vakmensen has now announced that the strike will be extended by 48 hours due to the lack of response from VDL. “Then we have no choice but to take further actions,” says CNV director Jeroen Bruinsma.

Employees of the car factory are campaigning for a new social plan. At VDL Nedcar, a contract with BMW for the production of MINIs expires at the beginning of 2024. If there is no new contract, it could mean the end of Nedcar. The employees therefore want good dismissal arrangements in a social plan.

According to CNV, there is a great willingness to strike, even if the strike has to be continued for longer.
