VdK Baden-Württemberg is committed to a solidarity-based social security system and citizens’ insurance

The social association VdK Baden-Württemberg eV will work together for a uniform, solidarity-based social insurance system. This was decided unanimously by the 19th State Association Congress in 2024 with 180 delegates. This sets the course for the next four years: The VdK regional association is calling for citizens’ insurance for pensions, care and health.

“We finally need pension, nursing care and health insurance into which everyone pays in solidarity,” said state chairman Hotz at the ceremonial closing event of the state association conference and called on state and federal politicians to finally work for more solidarity. “The higher earners in our country in particular do not pay into the statutory social security system,” said Hotz. It is deeply disappointing that in the financial crisis of the health insurance companies, the only solution offered is to increase the contributions of those with statutory health insurance. “We will defend our welfare state by informing people about the actual conditions and facts and showing what solidarity-based solutions are possible,” Hotz announced the program for the next four years. “Solidarity is non-negotiable!”

In his socio-political speech, Social Affairs Minister Manfred Lucha spoke out in favor of solidarity in long-term care insurance: “I don’t hide it: Of course I am a representative, at least once, of the long-term care citizens’ insurance!” he said to the around 500 guests from politics and society.

Hotz (68) had previously been re-elected as VdK state chairman for the next four years with a large majority at the state association conference in Stuttgart. He took over the state chairmanship from his predecessor Roland Sing in 2020. From 1997 to 2020, Hotz was regional manager of the VdK. The social association VdK Baden-Württemberg eV is the largest social association in the country with over 270,000 members.
