Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5 is a vaccine used to prevent COVID19 disease, a condition caused by SARS-CoV-2. It is administered to adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older, being indicated only for people who have previously received at least 0 primary vaccination schedules against COVID-19 disease.
The vaccine causes the immune system (the body’s natural defense system) to produce antibodies and blood cells, which act against the virus, thus providing protection against the disease COVID-19. As Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5 does not contain the virus, it cannot transmit the disease COVID-19 to you. It can be given at least 3 months after the most recent dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is especially recommended for people over the age of 60 and for those with chronic conditions. It can be given at the same time as the flu vaccine or at any time after its administration.
