Vasky Purchases Botas and Presents New Collection of Boots

The interest of the Vasky company in the purchase of the company Botas, which ended up in liquidation, has been known for many weeks. Now both parties have agreed on terms and Botas already belongs to Vaska. And the company immediately presented a new collection of boots.

Botas already belongs to Vaska

The Zlín company Vasky completed the purchase of Botas, which went into liquidation at the end of last year. Even though a wave of uncertainty swept through the Czech internet and media, all the time we were just dealing with the details of the business, commented the store Václav Stanekfounder of the Vasky brand.

In addition, during the purchase process, Vasky was preparing the first collection of new boots, which it has now presented. This is a collection of leather sneakers in collaboration between Botas and Vaska, inspired by both styles of these shoe brands. One of the color combinations follows the iconic classic model in the color of the tricolor.

However, customers will have to wait for a collection of traditional boots. We have a lot of work behind us, but even more awaits us. Botas is a Czech footwear legend. But she shouldn’t live in the shadow of her former glory. It’s time to show that boots still have something to offer today. After all, legends live forever. So the story is far from over, on the contrary – it is just beginning, concluded Václav Staněk.

The Botas brand will celebrate 60 years this year

The Botas brand was created in the 1960s and dictated the trends in sports shoes in Czechoslovakia at the time until the breakup of the Eastern Bloc. In addition, boots were not only used by athletes, but were also worn by “ordinary” people as walking shoes.

The beginnings of boots date back to 1949, when the company Botana was founded in Skutč in Pardubice. Originally, the company produced men’s walking shoes, but in 1962 it began to specialize in the production of sports shoes. However, the huge increase in popularity of Botas shoes only started with the iconic CLASSIC model with the typical vertical serrated strap and the Botas logo with 3 stars, which the company introduced in 1966.

After the revolution, the Botana company agreed to cooperate with a number of world brands (such as Puma or Salamon), for which it produced shoes. The Botas brand seemed destined to fade into oblivion. But the company specialized narrowly in sports shoes, mainly in cross-country skis and skates, and the Botas brand still survived. In 2008, there was also a renewal of the Botas CLASSIC model, which was initiated by graphic design students at the Prague University of Applied Arts (UMPRUM) as a basis for their school project. But the company failed to capitalize on the initial enthusiasm for the renewed boots and has been struggling since 2010.
