“The fratricidal war on the left must stop. I haven’t heard a single word for a month, but I hear harsh qualifications regarding the ABV”, said the leader of the ABV, Georgi Parvanov. He urged not to delay the nomination of a common candidate and confirmed that he would wait for the result of the internal party poll in the BSP. According to him, the future head of state must be a socially engaged intellectual. “If negotiations do not start immediately and they do not reach a common left candidacy, the elections for the left are doomed,” predicted Pencho Hubchev, project coordinator of the foundation.
“GERB is waiting for the candidate of the BSP, therefore the Reds should nominate such a figure who can face Borisov, including against Borisov”, advised the political scientist Antoniy Todorov. According to sociologist Vasil Tonchev, “the strongest presidential candidate of the left is Cornelia Ninova, especially in the case of Borisov’s candidacy”. Ninova herself did not attend the discussion, but an hour later – from “Positano” 20, she thanked for the “high evaluation”. Yesterday she did not fail to present flowers in front of the Dimitar Blagoev memorial house on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of his birth. This is happening for the second time – last week the socialists laid flowers in front of his monument in Blagoevgrad, and before that they also honored Todor Zhivkov in Pravets.
