Vasil Kušej was considered a great talent from an early age. At the age of 15, he left Ústí nad Labem for Dresden, where he went through his entire adolescence. Despite the excellent statistics in the U19 team, he did not make it to the A team.

Despite loan spells in Ústí nad Labem and Prostějov, he got to Mladá Boleslav, where he didn’t make his first start in the top Czech league until the age of 22 at the beginning of 2023, but it was worth it. During the spring season, Kušej played sixteen duels, scored four goals, and especially against Sparta and Slavia, he enchanted with his tremendous speed. He also performed well at the U21 EURO.

During the summer, the phones in the Lokotrans Arena kept ringing with interest in the small speedster. In the end, the bid from Utrecht in the Netherlands was supposed to win, but the transfer, which was considered practically a done deal in the country, failed.

One of the reasons should have been the fact that Utrecht dismissed the head coach Michael Silberbauer, who cared a lot about Kušej. In addition, the transfer window has already closed in the Netherlands.

But the 23-year-old attacker will probably not stay in Boleslav anyway. According to journalist Luďek Mádl, it is most likely that Kušej will end up in Slavia, which has shown interest in him again.

In Europe, he should have enough space for his speed and lightning counter-attacks. He could prove himself in the cups, and Slavia will then sell him for an even larger amount.

And it must be said that one more move player who could go around opponents one on one would suit Slavia. In the attack, only Matěj Juráska has that, and Christos Zafeiris in the center of the pitch.
