This Thursday morning, Vasco informed in a note that it had given up competing for the temporary management of Maracanã. Recently, the club asked to challenge the public call notice. The request was denied by the Government of Rio.
Vasco understands that there was no equality in the process. The club understands that the terms set by the Government are exclusive and end up not allowing the participation of any other club in Rio other than Flamengo.
Furthermore, Vasco’s private partners are not authorized to participate in the process. In the midst of this, the club chose to withdraw from the next TPU and concentrate on participating in the definitive Maracanã competition.
Check out the official note in full:
“Regarding the Public Call for the provisional Term of Permission for Use (TPU) of Maracanã, lasting up to 1 year, Vasco da Gama informs that it submitted a request to challenge the notice to the state government last week. The analysis made by Vasco showed that the terms of the call prevent the participation of Vasco’s private partners in the process and also disable the participation of the club itself through unreasonable demands that only the current precarious licensee can meet.
This Wednesday, Vasco da Gama received a formal response from the state government’s Bidding Committee informing of the rejection of the request to challenge the notice and not accepting any of the suggestions that could guarantee the qualification of Vasco da Gama and others interested in participating in the contest.
Faced with this situation, Vasco da Gama informs that it declined to participate in the Public Call for the next TPU, not agreeing to participate in a process that does not guarantee equality and impersonality between the candidates and directs the result. Vasco will focus, together with its partners, on presenting the best proposal for the 20-year Maracanã concession in the Public Competition now underway.”
