Vasco Football Club Records Huge Budget and Investment, Achieves Record Sales in 2023

If on the field things didn’t go as expected and the Vasco suffered to remain in Series A, outside the four lines it was a year of records. In its first full season as SAF, the club broke investment, budget and sales marks.

Souza about verbal agreement with Vasco and agreement with the Turkish team: Paulo Bracks was sent away and changed the whole scenario. It wasn’t clear whether they wanted me to stay or not.”

Despite some turbulence, such as the change of command of the SAF in the middle of the season and the delay in the arrival of the 777, significant milestones were achieved. Vasco has never invested so much and managed to sell as well as in 2023.

– We are working daily to maintain the achievements off the field and create an even more competitive Vasco on the field. Salaries are up to date and debts are being negotiated. Today, the work and professionalism of management can provide internal and external security and predictability, with the market, that Vasco has a solid and long-term project – said CEO Lúcio Barbosa, to ge.

Throughout the year, SAF faced payment problems and delays in installments related to acquisitions. The club suffered a transferban of FIFA, outside the transfer window period. However, Vasco reached an agreement with all creditors and will close the year with its accounts resolved, salaries up to date and the promise of more investments.

Last Friday, for example, Vasco reached an agreement with Benfica and agreed to purchase defender João Victor. The club will pay 6 million Euros (R$32 million), but the total operation could reach 8 million Euros (R$43 million), according to triggers provided for in the contract. The negotiation is the second largest in Vasco’s history, behind only the purchase of Edmundo, in 1999 (US$ 15 million).

Furthermore, the club agreed in recent days to purchase two players who were on loan, Mateus Carvalho (R$2 million) and Paulo Henrique (R$4.8 million).

Sales also break brands

Just as it went out, the money also came in. In 2023, Vasco had the highest revenue from sales in its history.

The club sold the trio Andrey, Eguinaldo and Pedro Raul for R$114.1 million. In the cases of Andrey and Eguinaldo, however, Vasco had or will have to pass on part of the money to third parties, as it did not hold 100% of the rights. Vasco will receive around R$84 million.
