Vármegye’s Christmas tree – where the festive decorations tell a story

Surely many people still remember the initiative of the Alsószentiván Kösségért Egyesület, which aimed to implement the idea of the county’s egg tree at Easter. Well, the action was such a success that at the association’s call, an entire county moved, crocheted, painted, and did crafts for weeks, as a result of which the eggs of all settlements were decorated on the Dél-Fejér county tree in April.

The municipality of Bicske, located in the northern part of the county, created the idea of a common Christmas tree after thinking about this collaboration, which, according to our information, has already been joined by many municipalities, including the municipality of Mezőkomárom, who were happy to report on the request.

– We are happy that, by transplanting the idea of the Easter egg tree, the county can also have a common tree at Christmas. We were happy to receive the letter from the municipality of Bicske in May! We think it’s a great deal! Announcing the initiative, we asked the residents to make their decorations by November 15. The artworks that arrived by the deadline have already arrived at their new home, Bicske. Similar to the county egg tree initiative, Mrs. János Mohai and Aunt Erzsi Horváth also made Christmas tree decorations using different techniques. Jánosné Mohai painted the coat of arms of Mezőkomárom on a styrofoam sphere, as well as the Catholic church, which can be said to be one of the landmarks of the settlement. Aunt Erzsi made a star with paper weaving, on which she also painted the coat of arms of the settlement with her own hands. We can’t wait for the moment when the decorations of all settlements, including the one in Mezőkomárom, can shine on the county’s Christmas tree!
