Almond
“Almonds are an excellent source of vitamin E, which can protect skin from UV damage, retain skin moisture, and help repair skin tissue,” says Victoria Glass of the Farr Institute. “All of these attributes play a role in achieving healthy, glowing skin, which may appear younger.”

Glass is also one of the experts who chose walnuts, saying they contain anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids that can help keep skin glowing and strengthen skin membranes.
“Walnuts are one of the most important sources of polyphenols, pedunculagins, a type of elagitanin,” adds Kristina Alnieraite, registered and licensed dietitian and head of Nutrition and Wellness at Kilo Health. “These polyphenols have high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory bioactivity that have a positive impact on the initiation and progression of diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases.”
Pistachio
“Pistasios are high in polyphenols and flavonoids, which are important contributors to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects,” says Alnierait. “Due to their high content of bioactive compounds, pistachios are recognized as the top 50 foods in total antioxidant capacity.”
Susan Kelly, registered dietitian and nutritionist at Pacific Analytics, adds, “The antioxidants present in pistachios also help reduce acne breakouts and protect the skin from cellular damage.”
Cashew nuts
“Raw cashews have appreciable levels of certain bioactive compounds, along with a large variety of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, phytosterols, and fiber content,” says Alnieraite. “It is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and death, a reduced risk of metabolic syndrome and diabetes. In addition, several scientific studies have shown these nuts to improve mental health and increase bone mineral density.”
Brazil Nuts
“Full of omega-3 fatty acids and selenium, Brazil nuts increase elasticity skin and reduces inflammation associated with acne,” explains Kelly. In addition, Brazil nuts also have glutathione which ensures skin regeneration, increases elasticity, and prevents wrinkles.
