The president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, has advanced that the works of the lithium battery gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) will start “shortly” and that the intention is to produce in 2026.
In this way, he explained that, according to conversations held between the regional Executive and the promoters, the forecast they manage is to be able to start the work “shortly”, so that it can be finished “in the second half of 25 with the intention of producing already in the year 26”.
“I think it was two years from the moment construction began, which is going to start in the second quarter of the year and that will mean that, by the summer of 2025, autumn of 2025, at the latest, have it finished”, has pointed to questions from the media.
At the moment, the Board is working on the permits around this initiative, and the president of the Board hopes that the “environmental papers” will be in this same month of March and the rest in the “first days, in the first weeks of the month of April”.
Fernndez Vara made these statements, to questions from the media, after participating this Tuesday, in Mérida, in the signing of the action protocol with the House of Mercy ‘El Pilar’ in Almendralejo (Badajoz).
