The fifty-year-old was brought back to the port in cardio-ventilatory arrest, before being taken care of by the island’s firefighters. Thanks to their intervention, the man was able to find a cardiac activity. He was airlifted by SAMU to Sainte-Anne hospital in Toulon.

In addition to the SAMU helicopter, an ambulance was mobilized, either three firefighters.

Diving accidents are very common during the summer season. In 2022, rescuers noticed a increase in interventions linked to this practice with 155 operations (compared to 117 in 2021), including 9 deaths.

At the beginning of summer, the maritime prefecture of the Mediterranean and Cross Med had therefore launched an awareness campaign aimed at users.
