On the night of Monday this week, the venerable SAG Awards were held in Los Angeles. It was a star-studded occasion, and several of Hollywood’s greats had made the trip to pay tribute to the various film and television productions from 2022.
Skin braids: – So genuinely embarrassing
One of the most talked about programs from last year, “White Lotus”, unsurprisingly ran away with a prize – namely for best ensemble in a drama series. When the entire cast from season two came on stage, it wasn’t the acceptance speech that got attention – it was actor Aubrey Plaza’s (38) “sour” mine.
During the acceptance speech, she looked clearly disturbed and irritated, and is said to have said the words “Jesus Christ” with a resigned expression. On Twitter, some have also speculated whether she said an even uglier phrase.
Explains
Now one of Plaza’s co-actors can tell what actually happened during the acceptance speech. According to Jon Gries (65), Plaza was not angry or irritated at all. He tells Page Six that he told Plaza to look ahead because there were about 15 people in front of her.
Showed “secret” message
Several have also speculated whether Plaza got mad because Gries pointed out that her breast was about to fall out of the dress. The 65-year-old confirms that he pointed out that exactly that was about to happen – but claims that Plaza appreciated the message.
– I think she was trying to insinuate that there would be no problem if her nipple was visible, says Gries and refers to Plaza saying: “Jesus Christ”.
– It’s her humour, it’s dry and biting.
Denies the rumours
Gries also says that there were several people who thought Plaza was angry that she was not allowed to speak on the podium when “White Lotus” won the award. The 65-year-old denies this and says that the cast completely agreed that F. Murray Abraham (83) should give the acceptance speech.
This is where things go wrong
– We wanted him to speak, we all wanted that. He is F. Murray Abraham! He is a legend, he says.
Gries also reveals that he sent Plaza a message to find out if she had actually been annoyed on stage. She is said to have replied that she was not at all.
