Yesterday in the town of Belovo, I met the workers of Chaira Pavement Plant, Belmeken Pavement Plant, Sestrimo Hydroelectric Plant and Momina Klisura Hydroelectric Plant at their invitation.
This is what Vanya Grigorova wrote on Facebook.
Despite the cheerful statements from the previous regular government, it seems that it is
destructive processes take place in the initiatives of the “Belmeken-Sestrimo” cascade:
- – cutting down the number of employees
- – eliminate responsibilities outside the professional field, which end up affecting the safety of both the plants and the workers themselves
- – outsourcing of operations, which leads to additional workload for engineers. For example, the cleaners are expected to be released, and the cleaning will be done mainly by our already scarce experts. Supervisor’s comment: “You’re going to clean, but who’s cleaning you?!”
- – to release the drivers, with the transport being taken over by the operational staff. Driving on narrow and broken roads, high in the mountains, before and after 12-hour shifts, in difficult conditions in most seasons (fog, deep snow, rain) is a deadly stress on the body In addition, the people who maintain the roads to Belmeken and Sestrimo have also been suspended. These are mountain roads, not bike paths in the center of Sofia!
- – their employment contracts were changed so that they could be transferred from one hydropower station to another. But a broom does not behave in the same way. Each headquarters has its own specific details, which are learned after years of working in one place.
They received training on how to act if terrorists appeared. But it doesn’t take terrorists to take over this critical infrastructure for our energy system.
There are simply no people! NEK hydropower plants, together with Kozloduy NPP and Maritsa East 2 TPP, are the largest producers of electricity in Bulgaria.
PAVETS are the largest and truly GREEN battery.
Instead of strengthening Chaira and Belmeken PAVETS, we are “making them better” by exploiting and bullying experts who are already extremely hard to find. Why? Because someone has to argue about the “need” to buy batteries for 1.5 BILLION BGN under the Recovery and Stability Plan?
Because the destruction of Bulgaria’s energy industry includes the destruction of this unique infrastructure that produces and stores electricity, helps with water supply and irrigation?
Already in 2020, Chaira workers have warned the management that neglect of established standards and procedures, underfunding, unfinished repairs will lead to work accidents and accidents.
They are already a reality. The management of NEK and the Minister of Energy are obliged to answer these questions. As soon as possible!
