VanMoof resumes online sales | Twinkle

Electric bicycle brand VanMoof has restarted online sales of two of its models: the VanMoof S5 and A4. It is the first time since the bankruptcy that the company itself has resumed sales.

VanMoof went bankrupt halfway through last year. New owner Lavoie (McLaren Applied) immediately indicated that he wanted to invest tens of millions of euros in the new VanMoof and ultimately want to resume sales.

VanMoof’s business model has also changed somewhat in the meantime. For example, more focus was placed on bicycle parts that were not produced by VanMoof itself, but also came from other suppliers. After VanMoof’s bankruptcy, it turned out to be difficult to find spare parts.

‘Restore trust’

VanMoof co-CEO Eliott Wertheimer now says that the company has taken months to redesign key components. VanMoof previously announced that it did not expect any profit in the coming years, precisely because of the investments. According to Wertheimer, restoring trust among consumers is now one of the most important priorities: ‘Trust that we only expect to regain by substantiating every claim we make with concrete results. With reliable best-in-class e-bikes that can be efficiently repaired and maintained by an expert network of local specialists. With the start of sales today and our product range under development, we are taking a new step in this direction.’
