Bicycle manufacturer VanMoof has temporarily halted the sale of new (electric) bicycles. It is currently no longer possible to order bicycles via the webshop. According to VanMoof, that is “to be able to catch up on production and delivery of existing orders”.
If you want to order an electric bicycle on the VanMoof website, you will see a text about the sales stop.
“We’ve temporarily paused sales to catch up on production and delivery of existing orders. Don’t worry – this won’t affect service. Sign up and we’ll notify you as soon as sales reopen.”
VanMoof is not yet available to explain the sales stop.
The sales freeze would have started two weeks ago, writes TechCrunch. According to the news site, it was then said that the cause was a computer malfunction.
Complaints about slow repair of VanMoof bicycles
Bicycle manufacturer VanMoof has come under fire in recent months because owners of VanMoof bicycles feel that the service leaves something to be desired. It would sometimes take months for bicycles to be repaired.
Until recently, VanMoof did not supply parts to bicycle repair shops. As a result, customers are dependent on VanMoof’s own repair service.
VanMoof is also not doing well financially. In recent years, the company has repeatedly made losses of tens of millions.
