VanMoof Bankruptcy: Bike Pick-up and No Repairs – What to Expect

Affected customers receive an invitation from the company. They can then choose a time to collect the bike from the VanMoof service point where they dropped it off. Initially, customers will be given about three weeks. Perhaps the period will be extended, the trustees will decide on that later.

It is possible to have someone else pick up your bike. The person must then make an appointment, otherwise he or she will not receive your bicycle. The curators choose this way to ‘ensure it is a pleasant experience for both riders and our staff’.

No money back or repair

The service points have been closed for a while, due to the company’s financial problems that eventually led to the bankruptcy in mid-July. They are only opened for collecting the bicycle and really only for that, emphasizes the company in a message.

No repairs will be carried out and no questions will be answered about undelivered bicycles or outstanding bills, the company warns.

The condition you get your bike back in depends on when the repair started. If the repairs were completed before July 17, the day the bankruptcy was declared, you’re in luck. If not, then you’re out of luck.

After the bankruptcy, no repairs were – of course – carried out. And also the defects for which a start was made to remedy them, are not repaired. In fact, you get it back in the condition in which you brought the bike.

Patience

Customers whose bicycles have been sent to the central storage in Utrecht must be patient. Shipping the bicycles costs money and time, and there is a shortage of both. How these bicycles get back to their owners is still being worked out. The customers concerned will receive an email when there is a plan.
