At the WC in Budapest, Upsala IF’s Vanessa Kamga finished in 13th place in the discus qualification. At home in Uppsala, she showed on Sunday that her form is better than ever when she raised the personal record to 61.32 and climbed up to second place all-time in Sweden.
A week ago passed Vanessa Kamga so when to the WC final and threw for the first time this season over 60 meters in the discus with 60.02.
At the Uppsala Games, Vanessa first raised her year’s best to 60.30 in the third round, three centimeters from the personal record she set at the SM in Norrköping 2022. In the fourth throw, the discus landed at 61.32, a personal record by 99 centimeters and up as second all-time in Sweden.
Vanessa petar ned Caisa-Marie Lindfors who this year has thrown 60.90 and now only has Anna Söderbergs Swedish record 64.54 ahead. She finished the event with a throw of 59.33, setting a career best.
Women’s discus has had a fantastic year in Sweden, with places two to five the all-time list all are from 2023. Except Vanessa and Caisa-Marie have Emma Sralla threw 59.70 as fourth and Emma Ljungberg 59.48 as fifth all-time.
