Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy. City agents on strike over loss of days off

About sixty municipal agents, housekeepers, municipal police officers, technical services demonstrate in front of the town hall of Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy to denounce an application of a law of 2019, which according to them, would make them lose seven days of leave.

“The law cannot apply”

Last March, the town hall decided to apply for January 2022, the law on the transformation of the civil service. According to the texts, the agents of the communities must work 1,607 hours in the year. In Vandoeuvre, this would concern 600 agents. “We are at 1,560 hours with 20 days of RTT, we work more than 35 hours. They want us to work seven more days without any compensation. We proposed to work 8 to 10 minutes per day more to arrive at the right quota, the town hall tells us that it is not law but that would suit everyone ”, details Assen Benzid, union representative of the CGT. The union believes that the law cannot apply to the working hours of municipal agents in Vandoeuvre. “We are not even concerned by the texts since we have an agreement which dates from January 15, 2001. However, according to the law on the transformation of the public service, any agreement signed before January 3, 2001 must be repealed”, explains Anne- Claire Cagninacci, member of the CGT. The mayor, Stéphane Hablot, proposed for his part an increase of three euros. “With the health crisis we were mobilized, he could offer 30 euros we are not frozen, we want him to show us support”, concludes Assen Benzid. A delegation could be received at the end of the day by the services of the town hall.
